About

Mitre Angling Club was established in 1967 when it had fishing on a single Pennine reservoir. Nowadays Mitre Angling Club provides outstanding quality river fishing on thirteen miles of rivers and streams, including stretches of the Calder, Ribble, Wharfe and Doe, and on three reservoirs, all in beautiful surroundings in the Lancashire and Yorkshire countryside.

Mitre Angling Club members are predominantly fly fishermen, although opportunities exist for bait fishing on selected waters. Fishing is for brown trout, rainbow trout, grayling, coarse fish, and some salmon and sea trout.

The club is relatively small, with an establishment of 130 members, so there is never a problem of overcrowding.

No matter whether you prefer the challenge of small streams, the comfort of larger rivers, or stillwaters, there is something for you. If you are new to fly fishing, more experienced club members are always willing to help you. Membership

Mitre Angling Club currently has a full establishment and there are no membership vacancies at the moment. If you are interested in joining please read the following membership information and contact the Membership Secretary to be placed on the waiting list...

Members pay an annual membership subscription of £225 plus an initial joining fee of £75 (2025 rates). For the amount, quality and variety of water we offer, giving year round angling, this represents exceptional value. Mitre Angling Club particularly wishes to promote family participation, and encourage our young people to experience the delights of angling, therefore:

  • Members may register juniors under twelve years of age to fish FREE
  • Members may register young persons aged twelve to sixteen on payment of an annual subscription of £20, both on the understanding that they accompany those young people and are responsible for their safety and conduct
  • Members partner's pay just HALF membership fees

Mitre Angling Club is a friendly, welcoming club, holding light-hearted fly fishing competitions for members during the fishing season, regular get-togethers and annual trophy presentations. At our annual subs meeting there are fly tying demonstrations and talks by well known anglers. Members will receive regular newsletters to keep them informed and involved in club matters. There is also a "members only" website that has downloads and current news items - click the link to access (password required)...

If you would like to become a member or would like further information about our fishing club, please contact our Membership Secretary, Mike Payne, on 07813802421 or use the form below to send an e-mail.
