Burnsall, North Yorkshire
Mitre Angling Club have some prime fishing in the Yorkshire Dales on that most famous of Yorkshire rivers... the River Wharfe. This stretch of river in Upper Wharfedale is beautifully situated about six miles upstream of the famous Bolton Abbey fishery and close to the other well know beat at Appletreewick and Burnsall.
There is half a mile of varied water with excellent brown trout and grayling fishing. During the brown trout season it is flyfishing only, other methods are permitted outside of the brown trout season. The River Wharfe hereabouts is a dry fly fisher's dream with tremendous hatches of various natural flies throughout the season. Those who enjoy a bit of nymph fishing won't be disappointed either with plenty of faster flowing water perfect for presenting a team of nymphs or wet flies
Because of its location and Mitre Angling Club’s policy to have an upper membership limit it is not heavily fished and a day on this tranquil water can be a joy, particularly with some good pubs nearby! This is another prestigious water only available to Mitre Angling Club members.
